“Have you seen my to-do list from God?”
She asked
“I know I left it around here somewhere,”
I told her I hadn’t seen it
And even if I had
God shouldn’t be making lists
Or telling people what to do
People were stupid enough already
Without help from a man with a beard
Sitting around in the clouds
Giving out lists
And besides,
“What does he want you to do?”
I asked.
Something stupid, I bet.
“He works in mysterious ways,”
She told me
“I don’t think he works at all,”
I said,
And left.
